Feinstein Center For Service Learning & Community Engagement
Annual Recognition Reception
Each year we gather to recognize the contributions of our students, staff and faculty to the community as well as our developing partnerships with community-based agencies nd those individuals committed to making Bristol and the surrounding area an enriched and fully realized community.
These important contributions take different forms: service learning (service imbedded in a course with clear academic outcomes and guided by a faculty member), community service (a general category that includes non-academic service that addresses symptoms of social issues) and civic engagement (using one’s voice to become active politically and/or advocating on behalf of others).
Roger Williams University believes in the impact of service in all these formats and has consistently committed itself to educating our students beyond the classroom in a way that combines meaningful work in the community, enhanced academic learning, and an increased sense of civic responsibility.
The Feinstein Center is dedicated to supporting and exploring and encouraging collaborations between the University and our community partners. When our students move outside campus boundaries and into the community, their expertise is tested and their perspective if forever changed as they contribute to the important work done by non-profit organizations in our area.
